The varsity football team lost its last game in the bi-district playoffs against Chanute, October 30, 13-7. The ending season record was 5-5.
Coach Mike Dumpert said it was great to see the team have a good experience and grow as people throughout the season. They struggled with consistency throughout the season but Dumpert was proud they came to work hard every day and were unselfish throughout the season.
“Football is a game of adversity.” Dumpert said, “I don’t dwell on disappointment.”
Brandon Haggerty, senior, said having a team full of sophomores and juniors makes winning even harder. By having such a young team, there were a few games that they just didn’t know how to win, he said he was proud of the team for continuing to work hard and never giving up, even when the game got tough for them.
“We fought through a lot of adversity even though we had such a young team,” said Haggerty, “We got better each week and never gave up.”
