A morning mist with a slight breeze, hay bells that outline the countryside, and the sounds of the birds and insects around. This is where a person could find Prothe.
“Out in the country,” is where Prothe said she has lived most of her life. The small area near Paola, Kansas known as Block. This is where Prothe likes to spend most of her time playing ping pong and riding around with her brother.
Prothe is a perfectionist. Maybe in a different way than others might think.
“I will get lazy and then regret it later for not doing it, and then make it perfect again,” she said.
Prothe has a few ways to handle stress. To start with, she says that she likes to spy on people. This helps her get away from her worries by taking her mind off her own matters. A more physical way of getting rid of her stress is that she will go outside and run up onto hay bells and jump from one to the other.
Competiveness motivates Prothe. Her competiveness has developed from being surrounded by boys growing up. She says she was always looking to prove herself and with that she has a memory of a time her brother was playing baseball.
Her brother’s team had ran out of pitchers and there happened to be only one option left and that was her.
“I felt equal to my brother,” she said.
With this motivation Prothe has the goals to finish high school with a 4.0, play on the softball team all throughout high school, and to become an anesthesiologist, the person who measures the amount needed to keep a person asleep while going under for surgery.
“I always needed to prove myself,” Prothe says about growing up, and this is what keeps her striving for the next step in order to reach her goal.
