Luca Maschi walked into a strange building, not knowing anyone, but the one who brought him to school. Maschi, exchange student from Italy, said he is enjoying his time in the US with the Wiedenbachs.

Maschi noticed a vast difference in teaching and learning, but noticed he had smaller class sizes.

“[Paola High School is] smaller than the school I went to in Italy,” Maschi said “ The school I went to had 1,000 students and this is a lot less students.”

Maschi is on the soccer team and couldn’t wait for his first game of the season.
“I was excited for the whistle to blow and the sound of the crowd cheering us on.” Maschi said.
The soccer team on a roll with a 3-1 score as of now.

Maschi came to America was to learn better English.
“If you want to be someone in Italy, you have to know perfect English and I want to improve my English, plus it is a great learning experience over all,” Maschi said.

Maschi looks forward to joining clubs. He said his classes had less work than in Italy.
“Back home it’s all study, study, study. But here it is more free ranged you go to school, get your work done,” Maschi said.

Maschi said America is a great country and that it is more free minded.
“You have a lot of stability here and more open-minded people,” Maschi said. “Paola High School is more open minded than the school I went to in Italy and this place is more fun.”
