Senior Abbie Upshaw saw the ocean for the first time this summer. Seeing the ocean wasn’t the only new experience for her. She also took a plane to Pensacola, Florida. This is the first time she had ever been on a plane. Upshaw said, her favorite part of the plane ride was taking off.
“It was really bumpy and it was kind of scary but at the same time once you get past that it was actually very peaceful."
Pensacola isn’t the only place Upshaw has been. Last November Upshaw took her second trip with her youth group to Indianapolis, Indiana. They were traveling to the National Catholic Youth
Conference (NCYC) along with 26,000 other people. According to Upshaw, NCYC was better the first time, however she still enjoyed this past trip.
“NCYC was better the first year I went but this past trip was still invigorating because it relit the flame of my faith”.
