The Boys swim team has high hopes. Junior Nathan Trigg said they have already made some very achievable goals.
“I want to break the 100 m. breaststroke record,” Trigg said.
The dedication our swimmers give to the sport takes a lot of commitment to get better Trigg said. According to Mayo and Trigg said they travel to The Ozone to practice at least 8-10 hours a week on their own time and then practice with the team.
“On my free time I go to The Ozone; every night if I can,” freshman Kye Mayo said. He said he swims for an hour-and –a-half to two hours.
Trigg and Mayo agreed swimming is a passion for lots of people, but these athletes want to compete to be the best.
Trigg and Mayo said they have always swam, they don’t remember not swimming. When you do what you love for a long time, time flies, said Trigg.
As Mayo and Trigg have said, this is one sport you can start as young as an infant and continue to your retirement.
“Me and my friend [junior] Isaac Heid started doing swim lessons in pre-k, then I did swim team after that. I’ve always swam,” Trigg said.
