Brandi Hoover, senior, chose to do online school for her last year of high school. Dealing with anxiety and depression for years made public settings difficult for her. Brandi said she lost a lot of friends going into junior year, which affected her mental health. She had a hard time making it through a school day and completing homework. After reflecting on her junior year, the decision was the best decision for her education. She enjoys being able to complete work on her own flexible schedule.
After completing high school, Hoover plans on studying sign language to pursue a career in interpreting. Sign language as a means of communication has always had her interest.
“My brother had an accident when he was younger. It limited his speech, so my parents used a
little sign language with him and some of it stuck. I also talk with my hands a lot, so it’s perfect,” Hoover said.
Until graduation, during the stay-at-home order, her hobbies have kept her busy. Fine arts classes were Hoover’s favorite. Hoover has been painting a lot more, she enjoys creating aesthetic paintings the most.
