Art Club
Not only is Art club new to the school, so is Deanna Morgan, art teacher and founder of art club. Morgan has loved art ever since she was a child.
To start art club she drafted up a constitution, and presented it to student council, and then have those interested in the club sign a petition. Roughly 35 students signed up for the club.
“I wanted a club where students who aren’t involved in sports or other clubs would have an opportunity to be creative and have more experiences with art, like the art world, colleges, competitions, and how to do better,” Morgan said.
Senior Austin McDaniel, president of art club, joined to put get more involved, let others see his work. McDaniel said, art is a big part of his life, he wants to go to school to become an artist.
Vice president of the art club junior Cody Schartz, is very passionate about art. Schartz said he loves the environment as well as the mood because you share the same love for art. He enjoys all of the different types of interpretation.
“I love to make art and when you love something that much it shows in your work,” Schartz said.
Anyone can join the club as long as they pay their $5 dues. Morgan said she hopes to attend at least 10 different competitions and or workshops. Depending on the competition, anyone can enter. Some of the competitions are for the top artworks in the school which are picked by Morgan.
“Art club is a fun chance for anyone who shares a passion for the subject,” Schartz said.
