Student Council President- Maddie Olson

Senior Maddie Olson said she has always been an outgoing individual and loves to get involved. That’s why she has been in Student Council since the fourth grade.

Student Council is the voice for the student body and helps plan and prepare events and make sure they go smoothly. Olson was secretary for StuCo her sophomore and junior year. As a senior, Olson is now the Student Council president

“Student Council is more focused on helping the school and its students” says Olson.

Student Council usually has 10 big projects a school year, but some of them have been replaced with new ones due to lack of support. They were recently in charge of Homecoming.

Olson said this is the event she most looks forward to during the year.

“Even though work is evenly distributed throughout the council it still can get stressful and chaotic dealing with the projects and homework on top of it.” she said.

“But sometimes you just need to buckle down and get things done” says Olson.

She also says she works better when kept busy.

When working on a project, when a problem arises the student council is usually “one step ahead able to work it out on their own, ” said Justin Elliott, Student Council sponsor, says.

Distributing task usually involves Elliott meeting with Olson and the Vp to help assign tasks and help plan out events.

Both Elliott and Olson said they have never felt pressured by students or staff to make certain decisions.

Olson says that next year she hopes for kids to see that Student Council is more than a popularity contest also, for more students to want to get involved and to have the drive to help change the school for the better.
