Cali Seck

Cam Seck

Bright lights shine down on him as the crowd cheers and the band plays. Just another Friday night for senior varsity football player Cameron Seck.

Seck has been playing varsity football for all four years of his high school career. After graduating high school, Seck will be attending the University of South Dakota to continue playing football.

Steve Seck, Cam Seck’s dad, got him started in football in second grade.

“Ever since then I’ve had a love for it.” Seck said about playing.

Ryan Oshel has seen Cameron Seck grow up from the time he was a freshman to now. Oshel has seen Seck become the great player he is. Oshel has coached Seck in both football in track.

Through the years Seck said he has always given 100 percent. Seck says the love for the game and family is what keeps him motivated to always do his best.

Seck is very excited for attending and playing for the University of South Dakota. Seck specifically likes the offense, the coaches, and the campus.

“Everything is just nice” said Seck about the University of South Dakota.

One downside for Seck attending the University of South Dakota is the distance. Paola is about five hours from the University. Seck is very close with his family. Since Seck will be so far away he wouldn’t be able to watch his sister Cali Seck play softball anymore, which is one of his favorite hobbies.

“It’s the best and worst feeling in the world. I’m so excited for him and proud of what he’s accomplished, and the next minute I’m looking at the calendar dreading the fact that I only have 38 weeks left with him at home.” said Amiee Seck, Cam Seck’s mom.

After graduating college Seck see’s himself getting a degree, possibly in genetics.

Football has taught Seck that one person can not do anything, and that it takes a team to fight through.
