Sarah Phipps, senior, said students who take the ACT should make sure they prepare for it and study.
“You should actually study,” Phipps said. “Don’t just assume you’re going to do fine. Make sure you prepare for it.”
The ACT is a college entrance test that college-bound students must take that includes language usage, reading, science reasoning and math.
Colleges use the scores to figure out what classes students take, whether they can get into college and who to award scholarships to.
“The scholarship committees’ concept is the higher the score, the more scholarships you get,” counselor Justin Elliott said.
Community colleges, junior colleges and vocational schools don’t require ACT scores.
Students can take the ACT as many times as a they want to and the highest score will go to the colleges. For example, if the first test score is 18, the second score is 17 and the third score is 19, the 19 score will remain.
