After a tough loss in the opener Paola looked to bounce back against the Baldwin Bulldogs. Despite homefield advantage Paola suffered its second loss in as many weeks.
Baldwin went up 28-0 in the first half, and they wouldn’t need any more points in the second half as they went on to win 28-14.
Paola struggled to stop the pass all night long as senior tight end
Dayton Valentine had more than 100-yards receiving and three touchdowns for the Bulldogs.
Paola did however manage to slow down the air-attack for the Bulldogs keeping them off the scoreboard in the second half.
Baldwin scored first on a four-yard touchdown run halfway through the first quarter to go up 7-0.
With Paola’s offense and defense struggling, the Bulldogs struck again, this time with a 60-yard touchdown pass to make the game 14-0 with two minutes left in the first quarter.
Paola finally launched a drive of its own, managing to get inside the 30-yard line but came up empty as junior Lucas Wilson missed the field goal wide left.
Baldwin tacked on two more touchdowns on pass plays in the final four minutes of the half to put the Panthers in a 28-point hole heading to the locker rooms.
Paola came out ready to play forcing two turnovers and holding the Bulldogs scoreless in the second half.
Paola managed to get on the board with six minutes left in the third on a 30-yard touchdown pass from junior Andrew Henn to senior Zach Trigg.
With the game decided, Paola literally fought till the end adding another touchdown on a 17-yard pass to junior Justin Criddle with four seconds left on the clock.
