Junior Taylor Wright uses Facebook for communicating with family and for something to do. Wright said that social networking sites are counterintuitive.
“They are social networking sites, they are supposed to be teaching people to be more social, but instead we’re losing more face-to-face communication and becoming less social,” said Wright.
Senior Bradley Shore doesn’t have a Facebook, but at one time, he did. When his mom got one he soon deleted his. Shore said people can get addicted to Facebook because people are always on it.
English teacher Kelly Fields doesn’t just have one Facebook, she has two. Fields said she created her Facebook site last year. On one Fields has family and friends. Her other Facebook account was created by a student last year. On this Facebook, Fields allows her students to be her friends. Although Fields said she doesn’t believe she’s addicted to Facebook, she said teens can get addicted because it is an easier way to communicate.
Fields said she learns a lot about her students from Facebook, from their wall posts.
