High school is four years of unpredictable turns and twists. As seniors near the end of their highschool’s career, they can’t help but become excited with what their future brings. For Livi Beets, senior, the major changes didn’t wait, they started with the Coronavirus pandemic.
“Finding out I wouldn’t get to complete my senior year next to my classmates was crushing. Like it was hard, really hard. Over time I have learned to accept it and make the best of it,” Beets said.
Although Beets’s senior year came to an abrupt end, Beets said she still has the memories to look back on. Her favorite memory was when it started raining at a football game she and her teammates were cheering at.
“We had all spent forever getting our hair and makeup ready for the first game of the season of my junior year football season. Katelyn Gibson, Savannah Ward, and I had a tradition of screaming ‘That’s The Only Way I know’ at the top of our lungs during pregame, every game,” Beets said, “We were cold and wet, with mascara dripping down our faces but it was by far, my favorite game out of all four years.”
Beets also said that her mentorship and teaching internship was a very memorable experience as well.
“I have had the opportunity to work in many classrooms in the past four years, including multiple special education classes. In doing that, I have found my passion for teaching and seeing special needs students grow,” Beets said.
Beets plans on attending Allen Community College on a cheer and dance scholarship and major in elementary special education.
