The Royals Win the World Series- Game

The sound of a fist hitting a seat is what senior Alyssa Bellington remembers from the Kansas City Royals game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Oct. 23. The fan did not agree with the calls.
“He was screaming the whole time and when the rain delay happened, he started punching his seat,” Bellington said. “I was really scared to be sitting next to him.”
Bellington said the atmosphere was crazy, but she loved being able to bond with everyone there.
“When they won you could just hear everybody get really loud and everyone was cheering,” Bellington said. “Even if you didn’t know the people, you were hugging and high-fiving.”
Callie Rolf, attendance secretary, said she experienced the same atmosphere when she was at the first World Series game against the New York Mets Oct. 27.
“It was energetic, fun, but a little bit crazy,” Rolf said. “They had to escort out a woman in front of us. She got a little bit too crazy.”

Sophomore Adyson Edwards said going to a Royals game was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
“We were really close to the centerfield and we got to watch the pitchers warm up,” Edwards said. “They’re just a big family.”
Edwards wants to go to a World Series game in the future.
“I would like to go to a World Series game, but those tickets are crazy expensive,” she said. “I eventually will.”
Freshman Hannah Menefee said she hasn’t been to a World Series game either, but would really like to go. So far, she’s only been to a playoff game with her family and her favorite part was actually getting to watch the players play.
“Sometimes, if you sit really close, you can even catch a ball or get a high five,” Menefee said.

Senior Lexie Smail attended both the ALCS game and the fifth game in the World Series. Smail said she also had tickets to the sixth game, but was unable to attend because the Royals won.
“It was hard, because of course I was happy we won, but disappointed that I didn’t get to go to the next game,” Smail said.
Sophomore Jake Miller also attended an ALCS game. Miller and Smail sat in the upper deck. Miller said all the seats were occupied.
“My favorite part was seeing just how much the games have changed in the last three years; since they got it together and actually started winning,” he said.
Smail said her least favorite aspect of the game was leaving. While getting out of the parking lot was nearly impossible, she said it was worth it in the end.
“I loved the energy of the crowd; it was electrifying,” Smail said.
