Americans are not in a dream; this is the reality, Trump is going to be the president starting January 20th.

The Presidential Election ended in an outcome not foreseeable by many people. Trump’s stunning victory by electoral college lead him to where he is now: the soon-to-be 45th president. With Clinton winning the popular vote, protesters were in an uproar.

Stunned Americans are afraid of what is going to happen.

From a poll taken by Gallup, four out of 10 people are afraid of Trump’s presidency. As Trump begins the transition period leading into Inauguration Day on Jan. 20. People will learn many things about the next president.

His policies and ideas are mostly opposite of what has been put into place the last eight years under President Obama.

Steve Gorsuch, current social issues teacher, said women’s healthcare, immigration and policies that the government have put in are going to be affected drastically.

Taylor Douglass, junior, said she supports Trump and thinks he will be able to help America get out of debt since he is such a good businessman.

The Electoral college decides the outcome of the presidential election. Each state is given an allotted amount of electors based on how many representatives you have in the house of representatives plus two for senators, they vote to decide.

The founding father established it because the vast majority of Americans were not educated so they wanted to insure someone who was qualified was elected. Five times is the number in history where someone won the popular vote but not the presidency including the past election. With this happening the debating has been ongoing about whether the Electoral College should still exist since most voters have at least a high school education.

“I personally wish they would go with a popular vote because it would be more fair. With the majority of voters having at least a high school education they are probably educated enough to make a decision on it,” Gorsuch said.
